Leyla Modirzadeh is a multi-disciplinary artist, educator, actress, and director specializing in theatre for social justice. As an actress, she has performed in theatres across the country including A Contemporary Theatre and The Group Theatre in Seattle, Wisdom Bridge Theatre, Chicago, The Kennedy Center, La Mama and New York Theatre Workshop. In addition to her professional stage work, Leyla is known for her solo shows and collaborations with renowned theatre artist Ping Chong. She most recently taught acting at UC, Berkeley and will be joining the faculty as a professor of theatre at SUNY New Paltz in the fall. She received her BA in Humanities from UC Berkeley, MFA in acting from University of Washington, and an MFA in visual arts from Pratt Institute. ​
