Lubbock or Leave It! is an original solo piece I wrote which was performed in different iterations at The HERE Space, Dixon Place, and the At One Solo Festival in New York City and at La Pena Cultural Center, in Berkeley.

This piece explores conservatism and fundamentalism through the experiences of a liberal New Yorker after she gets a teaching job in one of the most conservative towns in the US. Here is a short excerpt of the uptown version (2:39).

The solo piece Together Tea was an original adaptation of Marjan Kamali’s memoir of the same name about the Iranian American experience. Persis Karim of the Iranian Diaspora Institute was given a grant to create the piece. She hired me to find a book to adapt, help to adapt it for the stage, and then perform it at various venues.

Performances include the Hammer Theatre in San Jose, San Jose State University, UC Irvine and San Francisco State University.

I was 18 when I got the role of Leah in Wisdom Bridge Theatre's production of The Immigrant by Mark Harelick in Chicago (my first Equity role). Over the course of the play, I aged from 18 to 45. Here are some scenes from young Leah, the Russian Jewish immigrant to Texas at the turn of the century. My co-star in the first scene is David Studwell as Haskell. The second scene has Mary Ann Thebus as the Texan woman who befriends us. Our director, Doug Finlayson, recently found this tape of the show is his personal collection.
